Hamels despite his age and diminishing scouting values continued to book an Era in the low to mid 3s. By the end of 2016 I had a lot of cash to play with despite the owner's frugal mood, so I went out and got Chris Sale to anchor my rotation, developed Jesse Biddle and a couple others from my farm system. I had traded away Utley, ultimately released Howard and ate some cash (which I suspect will be what the Phillies do) I kept Lee and Hamels though I didn't renew his contract after 2016. Finished strong in the second half and ended with an 84-78 record and out of the wildcard by two games. I had the Phillies turned around at the end of 2017. I have yet to play MP, and I seldom multiseason play into the next year's OOTPB.
Even so, it got to the point where I could see that given a little tweaking, I could have the AI make the same choices I normally would, and after a while, I just let the computer manage. However, I became good at filling out roster sheets. I did manage my way up the minor leagues, but that was frustrating as all get out. Normally, I like GM'ing the team, since there's a lot of micromanagement (no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!) to running a baseball team. And if you remove the Yankees from history (boo Yankees forever!), the Red Sox become real jerks. Round robins are kind of cool, but strange. In older versions, you pretty much had to quick sim a few seasons so that the fictional players didn't start with wierd stats, but that seems to be fixed. WS predictions seem iffy at best, unfortunately. I don't recommend working your way up unless in 16 they've improved the minor league experience. Some things work really well, others don't. Remove the Yankees from the history of baseball Mexican, Japanese and Cuban leagues (no trades in Cuba!) quick sim real league until mostly populated by sim players, then take over quick sim real league to see who wins WS work my way up to the Majors from the very bottom of the independant leagues Various things I have tried over the years:
